Classroom Education Programmes

Education rooted in empathy and honest inquiry.

Designed for students who are inheriting a complicated world.

Earth Rooted's classroom programmes are among our most impactful work. The students sitting in a classroom today will vote and lead within a decade and what they understand about the world now shapes the decisions they make in it later. Our school programme builds conflict literacy across multiple sessions, giving students the time and tools to move past the headline and into human reality.

The Curriculum Structure

Session 1 — Orientation

What is conflict and why does distance make it easier to misunderstand? Sets shared vocabulary before anyone puts on a headset.

Session 2 — First VR Experience

Students step into an age-appropriate first-person episode, followed immediately by a structured group debrief.

Session 3 — Testimony & Context

Real accounts from people who lived the conflict, paired with historical and political background.

Session 4 — Second VR Experience

A second episode from a different vantage point to grow perspective beyond a single narrative.

Session 5 — Dialogue Circle

A facilitated discussion where students confront misinformation and their own assumptions in a safe and structured format.

Session 6 — Action & Reflection

Students translate what they've learned into a physical project, expression or written essay for sharing.

Age-Differentiated Content

Content is built in three tiers, ages 11–13, 14–17 and 18+ adjusting intensity and facilitation style so the experience matches developmental readiness.

Trauma-Sensitive Design

Every session includes opt-out points and content warnings and is reviewed by child psychologists before it reaches a classroom.

Teacher Training

We train the teacher before we train the class. A half-day workshop covers how to run the debrief, how to handle a student who has personal experience of conflict or displacement and how to keep the conversation going after we leave.

Beyond the Classroom

For schools outside Belgium or unable to host an in-person visit, Earth Rooted delivers its curriculum remotely. Sessions are adapted for online delivery without losing the facilitated debrief or the core learning objectives.
